Phobia redux

Tonight for your reading edification, allow me to present fifteen phobias that begin with the letter K:

Kainophobia- Fear of anything new, novelty.
Kakorrhaphiophobia- Fear of failure or defeat.
Katagelophobia- Fear of ridicule.
Kathisophobia- Fear of sitting down.
Kenophobia- Fear of voids or empty spaces.
Keraunophobia - Fear of thunder and lightning.
Kleptophobia- Fear of stealing.
Koinoniphobia- Fear of rooms.
Kolpophobia- Fear of genitals, particularly female.
Kopophobia- Fear of fatigue.
Koniophobia- Fear of dust.
Kosmikophobia- Fear of cosmic phenomenon.
Kymophobia- Fear of waves.
Kynophobia- Fear of rabies.
Kyphophobia- Fear of stooping.

I guess you could say my kainophobia is the only thing that keeps my kenophobia under control. But my koniophobia coupled with my kathisophobia and koinoniphobia makes my life a living hell. But it might be worse!

So what K-fear drives you? How many of you know someone suffering from lachanophobia? Isn't it hard to overcome?

  1. I've never heard of most of those phobias. I have only one, and that's arachnaphobia. Can't stand spiders of any kind. Pictures, toys and especially not real ones!

  2. Hmm, interesting list of phobias! I've never heard of any of these. Well I've heard of fear of thunder and lightening but never knew it's called "Keraunophobia." Some of these must be quite annoying to have though.

"Kathisophobia- fear of sitting down"...now that one must surely suck since there are things that require you to sit like being in an airplane (when the seat belt sign is on), driving, eating at a nice restaurant, using the bathroom (more so for women but would suck for a man too), etc...

  3. I think this was an educational post for me--as I needed your definition to understand each term.

Oddly, my first nightmare (that I can recall) as a child related to Kenophobia, but open spaces is what I prefer now.

  4. I'm not afraid of veggies but I don't eat enough of them :) I love those fears...the fear of stealing would actually be a good one if you ask me!

  5. Fear of sitting down??? There really is a fear for everything.

  6. I have a fear of fatigue to an extent. My fatigue is so extreme at times that I can become anxious when I know a busy day is coming up.

  7. Oh, no. I really have one of these: Keraunophobia. Is there a phobia name for fear of spider cricket?
